Main Purpose of Role
To provide personal / practical care and emotional support to clients living in their own homes encouraging clients to reach and maintain an optimum level of independence.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide personal care for the client and where necessary assist with personal care tasks e.g. personal hygiene, continence management, dressing and general mobility and use of moving and positioning equipment.
- Provide domestic assistance within the client’s home, e.g. laundry, bed, making, shopping and cleaning and the preparation of food
- If specified in the care plan, assist with personal financial affairs, e.g. completion of forms, collecting pensions.
- If specified in the care plan, assist service users with personal medication in-line with company policy and your medication training.
- Ensure that all assistance is provided in a sensitive manner following consultation with the client or their representative.
- Report and record any circumstances, changes or incident concerning a client which gives cause for concern.
- Encourage and enable clients to follow agreed care plans and assess whether a review of such plans is required. Assist the Manager (and local authority
- Report any concerns and signs of abuse in line with safe guarding.
- Record all action / tasks undertaken at each visit on the Home Care Record sheet, or other recording system as directed including keeping accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Take account of and regularly make health and safety risk assessments within the client’s home.
- To improve the persons quality of life and enhance their independence and reach their desired outcomes.

- Ability to work with service users in a caring manner that ensures dignity and respects the person’s rights.
- Ability to encourage services users to be independent.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and Amicare policies and procedures.
